App Permissions

Last updated: July 29, 2026

bitimsiz requests the fewest permissions it needs, and asks for each one only when the feature behind it is opened. There are no ads in the app and we do not sell your data. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so the server only ever stores ciphertext.

This page explains why each permission on the store listing is requested. The same list is available inside the app under Settings → Privacy & Security → App permissions, where you can also see the current status of every permission.

1. Device permissions — the system asks you

You can refuse these, and you can revoke them later from system settings. A refused permission only turns off the feature behind it; the rest of the app keeps working.

Camera

To take a photo or video for a post, a story or your dating profile, and to scan the QR code when you link a new device to your chats. Asked the first time you open the camera inside the app. If you refuse, you can still pick existing media from your gallery.

android.permission.CAMERANSCameraUsageDescription

Photos and videos

To let you pick the file you want to share. Only the items you select are read; your gallery is not scanned. Asked the first time you open the gallery picker. If you refuse, you cannot attach media, but everything else keeps working.

android.permission.READ_MEDIA_IMAGESandroid.permission.READ_MEDIA_VIDEOandroid.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGENSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription

Saving to your gallery

To write a photo or video you downloaded into your device gallery. Not needed on Android 10 and newer. If you refuse, downloads cannot be saved to your gallery.

android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGENSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription

Location

To show how far away dating profiles are and to attach a location to a vehicle listing. It is used only while the app is open on screen; the app never reads your location in the background. If you refuse, dating discovery stays closed and listings are published without a location. No other module is affected.

android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATIONandroid.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATIONNSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription

Contacts

To find which of your contacts already use the app. Phone numbers are hashed with SHA-256 on your device before they are sent, so the raw numbers never reach our servers. Asked when you start a contact sync. If you refuse, you can still find people by searching for their username.

android.permission.READ_CONTACTSNSContactsUsageDescription

Notifications

To let you know about new messages, likes, follows and match reminders. Asked during onboarding. If you refuse, nothing is pushed to your device; the in-app notification list still works.

android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Microphone — iOS only

To record sound while you shoot a video with the in-app camera on iOS. On Android this permission is not requested at all, because video recording is handed over to the system camera app. If you refuse, videos are recorded without sound.

NSMicrophoneUsageDescription

2. Granted automatically — no prompt

Android grants these when the app is installed, without asking. They give no access to your personal data.

  • Full network access — to talk to our servers. Without it the app cannot load anything. android.permission.INTERNET
  • View network connections — to notice when you go offline, hold your action and retry it once you are back online. android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
  • Push message delivery — Firebase Cloud Messaging receives a push and briefly wakes the device so the notification can be shown. android.permission.WAKE_LOCKcom.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE
  • Control vibration — to vibrate for notifications and haptic feedback. android.permission.VIBRATE
  • Run at startup — to re-schedule your match reminders after the phone restarts; pending reminders would be lost otherwise. The app itself does not launch at boot. android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
  • Run a foreground service — declared by the background-work library (androidx.work) that refreshes the football home-screen widget. The app does not run a persistent foreground service. android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE
  • Google Play billing — to buy and manage a Premium subscription. Payment is handled by Google, and we never see your card details. com.android.vending.BILLING

3. Added by libraries we use

The permissions below come from third-party components the app depends on. They appear on the store listing even though we do not use the features behind them. For transparency we also name the source of each one.

  • AdServices attribution — added by Firebase Analytics for advertising measurement. There are no ads in the app, the advertising ID is explicitly removed from our manifest, and we do not call these APIs. android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTIONandroid.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID
  • Play Install Referrer — added by Firebase Analytics to attribute where an install came from. We do not read this data. com.google.android.finsky.permission.BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE
  • Biometric and fingerprint hardware — added by our anti-tampering security library (freeRASP), which checks whether the device offers secure hardware. The app has no biometric login and never reads your fingerprint. android.permission.USE_BIOMETRICandroid.permission.USE_FINGERPRINT
  • View Wi-Fi connections — added by the time-synchronisation component of the same security library. It only checks connection state; the network name and password are never read. android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
  • Read Google service configuration — added by Google reCAPTCHA, which protects the SMS step of phone sign-in against bots. com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES

4. How do I revoke a permission?

Permissions are granted and revoked in your device settings; the app cannot change them for you.

  • Android: Settings → Apps → bitimsiz → Permissions
  • iOS: Settings → bitimsiz
  • From inside the app: Settings → Privacy & Security → App permissions → Open system settings

5. Notes

  • This page describes the permissions in the current version of the app. The list on the store page is generated from the published version, so the two can differ until an update goes live.
