Account & Data Deletion

1. Self-Service Deletion (Recommended)

You can delete your bitimsiz account and all associated personal data directly from the app at any time:

  1. Open the bitimsiz app and sign in.
  2. Navigate to Profile → Settings → Account.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm by entering your password or completing OAuth re-authentication.
  5. Permanent deletion begins — all your data is removed from our servers within 30 days.

2. What Gets Deleted

Within 30 days of your deletion request, the following data is permanently erased:

  • Profile information: username, email, phone number, profile picture, bio, date of birth
  • Social content: posts, comments, likes, stories, bookmarks
  • Relationships: followers, following, blocks, mutes
  • Messaging: encrypted message queue, conversation metadata, E2EE keys, key backups
  • Dating: dating profile, swipes, matches, photos, verification records
  • Investment: portfolio records, watchlist (server-side metadata)
  • Vehicle: garage, listings, favorites, search history
  • Notifications: in-app notifications, FCM token registrations
  • Sessions: active devices, refresh tokens
  • Reports and blocks: both made by you and made against you

3. What Is NOT Deleted

The following categories may be retained for legal or technical reasons:

  • Anonymized statistics: Usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you
  • Commercial records (legal obligation): Purchase receipts and billing records are retained for 5-10 years under Turkish tax law (stored in company records)
  • Abuse / fraud audit trail: Evidence of Community Guidelines violations (e.g. spam, fraud, harassment) may be retained in a limited form for legal defense purposes

4. Data Export (Before Deletion)

If you want a copy of your data before deleting your account:

  1. In the app, go to Settings → Privacy → Download My Data
  2. Your request is queued; within a few minutes you'll receive an email with a download link (valid for 7 days)
  3. Download your data in JSON format (KVKK Article 11/b — right to data portability; GDPR Article 20)
  4. Then proceed with account deletion

5. If You Cannot Access the App (Email Deletion Request)

If you cannot access the app or prefer not to use self-service, you can send a deletion request by email:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Subject: "Account Deletion Request"
  • Content: Your username (or registered email address), date of birth, and reason for deletion (optional)

Your request will be processed within 30 days at most. Under KVKK Article 13 and GDPR Article 12, responses are provided free of charge.

6. Reversing Deletion

After initiating deletion, you can cancel your request by signing in to the app within 14 days. After 14 days, data begins to be permanently erased and cannot be recovered.
